Yn Gymraeg

There is always confusion leading up to elections about who to vote for.

People are swayed by the biased newspapers and TV channels and many people don’t even care and vote for anyone without reading their policies.

Not to worry, we’re here to help with our Voting For Dummies guide.

The main parties in the upcoming Welsh Assembly Election 2011 are Labour, Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Plaid Cymru:

  • The Labour party’s manifesto includes policies such as free prescriptions and bus passes for the elderly as well as a plan to protect Wales from the UK government's cuts
  • The Conservative party’s manifesto includes a pledge to work towards having 1.5 million Welsh speakers by 2015 and to commit to fair funding for Wales
  • The Liberal Democrats party’s manifesto focuses on a better use of money, including 24-hour GPs for minor injuries within the NHS and making all new public sector buildings energy efficient by 2015
  • Plaid Cymru’s manifesto includes protecting hospitals and making sure that children leaving primary school can read, write and count to the expected standard

However, if you don’t like any of these parties or would like more details, don’t forget to check the minor parties on the Welsh Assembly website. I personally would recommend the Monster Raving Loony Party. Vote wisely!
