Movie Review: Abandoned
Sadly this was not the great original movie many people expected. Although Brittany Murphy, who starred as Mary, was gravely ill while filming, this wasn’t the best send-off to her career.
The movie follows Mary, who had recently suffered the loss of her mother, when she goes to collect her four-month boyfriend from hospital after surgery on his knee and finds him missing with no records of him on the hospital system. The Doctor who was supposed to be performing the surgery is away and there is no sign of the nurse she met. When no one believes her and she drops her anti-depressant pills, she is diagnosed as unstable. Mary receives information about her boyfriend from a stranger, demanding a ransom within an hour. She begins to take matters into her own hands, trying to prove her story and her mental stability.
For me, this was a movie I would watch once then gradually forget about, but if you are a fan of Brittany Murphy it’s worth buying. If not, watch it on rental before deciding whether to buy. This could have been a much better movie than it turned out to be, but was good with a tub of ice cream and a cuddle!
